胡德在米尔斯克比尔的第三轮齐射，打坏了敦刻尔克两门炮，破片打坏普罗旺斯号的测距仪使之停火，还有一发炮弹炸沉了布列塔尼……
Dunkerque got under way at 1759, just as the third British salvo arrived. A 15-inch shell ricocheted off B turret’s roof to starboard, disabling the nearest pair of guns and spraying the area with a deadly shower of metal fragments. One splinter struck Provence’s rangefinder, effectively silencing her guns. A second shell penetrated the airplane hangar and exited the port side without exploding. Rounds from this salvo also detonated aft on Bretagne, sparking a devastating explosion. Strasbourg’s captain saw “Bretagne’s whole stern shake while human bodies and hunks of metal debris of all kinds flew up into the air. A thick black cloud rose to the bridge. The rear funnel vomited a mixture of russet-red smoke, vapors, sparks and then flames.”

补充：普罗旺斯号是1939年法国海军的炮术冠军，其炮弹已经近失胡德，弹片已造成其舰员伤亡，因此使之停火意义重大。另一方面，炸毁布列塔尼引发的浓烟也是敦刻尔克随后开火却无法有效观测、发扬火力的主要原因。因此可以说，这一轮齐射决定了英军在米尔斯克比尔之战的完胜之局。
